The Story
A hush that settled over Le Monde Perdu as the sun began its slow descent into the horizon, spilling melted gold across the sea and setting the sky ablaze in dreamy shades of pink, lavender, and tangerine. The air smelled sweet — a heady mixture of salt, sun-warmed earth, and the delicate perfume of wild daisies that stretched in a soft, endless carpet beneath Serena’s bare feet.
She drifted through the meadow as if she were a part of it, her dress billowing and fluttering like a wayward cloud. Her hair, tousled by the playful fingers of the breeze, shimmered in the warm light, catching glimmers of the sunset’s magic. Each step she took stirred up tiny flurries of petals and dandelion seeds that floated and spun like enchanted sprites.
In her hand, she carried a bouquet of three cheerful gerbera daisies, their faces beaming up at her as if they, too, were marveling at the beauty of this lost world. She had plucked them carefully from the edge of an old, whispering tree whose boughs still wore a crown of pink blossoms, scattering them gently onto the meadow below.
Serena twirled slowly in the field, her dress fanning out around her, and for a moment she felt as though she might lift off the ground and float away with the dusk. She laughed softly, the sound light and musical, carried off by the breeze like a secret. Here, time did not chase her. Here, she could be anything: a wildflower, a whisper, a bit of living stardust woven into the sunset.
Cradling her bouquet close, she finally sank down onto the cool, grassy earth, lying back among the daisies, gazing up as the first stars dared to peek out. Tonight, Le Monde Perdu would hold her dreams. And when she left, she would carry a little piece of its magic tucked safely in her heart — and maybe, just maybe, in the petals she would press between the pages of her journal.
