About the Images
Since I last posted about Zooby Animesh Puppies, creator Carrie Tatus has released three more breeds: the tan Pitbull, the Doberman, and the Samoyed. She has also quietly updated all of the Zooby pups to version 2.0 with new capabilities.
And… THEY NOW HAVE CLOTHES! I know it sounds super weird that I’m so excited about puppy clothes. It makes more sense if I tell you that my RL senior Chihuahua-mix pup is almost always decked out in a t-shirt, sweater, scarf, or some other cute pup outfit (he has allergies and scratches his armpits until they bleed, so there’s also a practical reason for the clothes).
So, dressing my SL pup is sort of a natural progression for me. You might notice that Beanie, Serena’s Boston Terrier pup, is decked out in his spiffy new scarf in this photo. The scarves come with about five different textures, and you can pick one up for your Zooby pup at the Zooby Pets mainstore (be sure you grab the right one for your specific breed).
Serena’s skirt and top are the new(ish) – and very generous – holiday gift from The Kiwi Co. A fatpack HUD of colors is included for both items, along with PBR and non-PBR versions. Her boots were a gift from The Kiwi Co. in MadPea’s 2024 Advent Calendar; they include knee-high and ankle versions, with heels and flat versions, and another fatpack of colors. Serena is wearing the PBR versions of all of the items.
Finally, if you’re looking for a fun way to toodle around SL, check out these E-Scooters by Bad Unicorn. Serena is posed here with a static pose (by Secret Poses), but scooter-riding animations are included. The E-Scooters come in sizes for men and women (and are also resizeable) and are texture-change.
Enjoy! And Happy New Year!
The Story
The sun dipped low in the Los Angeles sky, painting streaks of orange and pink across the horizon. Hollywood had lived up to its glitz and glamour, but it had been an unusually warm January day, and the walking tours had taken their toll on Gavin, who was now snoring softly in their hotel room. Serena looked over at him, a fond smile tugging at her lips before she turned her attention to Beanie.
The Boston Terrier’s ears perked up as he sat by the door, tail wagging with boundless energy. It was clear he wasn’t ready to wind down just yet.
Serena chuckled. “Alright, Beanie. Let’s go burn off some of that energy.”
A quick search on her phone revealed a nearby e-scooter rental station. Excitement sparked in Serena’s eyes. She grabbed Beanie’s leash, and the two headed out into the warm evening air.
The e-scooter was easy to find, tucked neatly on a quiet side street near the hotel. After a brief tutorial and app confirmation, Serena secured Beanie’s leash to a sturdy belt clip she wore. “Ready to run, buddy?” she asked. Beanie barked in reply, his tongue lolling out as he danced in anticipation.
The city buzzed around them. Cars hummed along the streets, neon signs flickered, and a steady hum of chatter rose from clusters of people enjoying the post-New Year’s festivities. Beanie’s ears swiveled with curiosity, taking in the unfamiliar sights and sounds.
Serena giggled as they picked up speed, the warm air brushing against her skin. She navigated past the grand façades of theaters, their marquees glittering with promises of new releases and celebrity sightings. The stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame blurred beneath her, but she slowed to a stop when one caught her eye: Lassie.
“Look, Beanie,” she said, pointing. “A star for a fellow dog!”
Beanie sniffed at the plaque, then gave it an approving bark. Serena laughed, snapping a quick photo before hopping back on the scooter.
Eventually, they stumbled upon a small park strung with fairy lights. Serena slowed to a stop, her curiosity piqued. A group of street performers played a lively tune, their instruments blending into a melody that brought smiles to the faces of a small gathered crowd. Beanie sniffed the air, his tail wagging at the unfamiliar scents.
Serena parked the scooter and unhooked Beanie’s leash, letting him explore the immediate area. He quickly became the star of the evening, earning pets and compliments from the onlookers. A young woman handed Serena a small scarf embroidered with “Happy New Year” and suggested Beanie wear it. Serena tied it gently around his neck, grinning as Beanie strutted around like he owned the place.
“Thank you,” Serena said with a warm smile, tying the scarf gently around Beanie’s neck.
As the night deepened, Serena knew it was time to head back. “Ready for the last stretch?” she asked. Beanie wagged his tail, clearly still up for the adventure.
The streets sparkled under a canopy of city lights as they approached their temporary home. Serena parked the scooter and walked the final block with Beanie, who trotted happily beside her.
Back at the hotel, Gavin was awake, rubbing his eyes groggily. He looked up as Serena entered, Beanie trotting in behind her, now sporting his festive scarf.
“Where did you two go?” he asked, a bemused smile spreading across his face.
“Oh, just a little adventure,” Serena replied, her eyes twinkling as she kissed Gavin on the cheek. She placed Beanie on the bed, and the dog immediately curled up beside Gavin.
“Well,” he said, stifling a yawn, “looks like Beanie’s had enough excitement for one night.”
Serena grinned as she settled into the chair by the window, gazing out at the glittering Hollywood skyline. “Happy New Year, Gavin.”
“Happy New Year, Serena,” he murmured, his voice soft with affection.
